Today I want to make a departure from the normal decorating blog posts and focus on something that is much more important.  October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month--a month dedicated to education, fundraisers and service.

We want to encourage everyone to take the steps necessary to detect the disease before it happens.  Tell your loved ones to get regular check-ups and be pro active about breast cancer awareness.  Don't wait to prevent it until you or someone you love has it.  Do the things you can now to minimize the risk.

There are many groups that provide information and advice on prevention and treatment.  Those include the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (www.komen.org) and the National Breast Cancer Foundation (www.nationalbreastcancer.org), among others.  Each has articles about prevention, information about dealing with the disease, and opportunities to donate or serve.

We encourage everyone to participate in some aspect of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  And we wish the very best care for everyone who is dealing with the disease at this time.  May miracles happen in your life.
